Over the past few weeks, MRS has been looking for drivers for the newly-formed MRS Esports Team. Roughly 1600 sim racers from across Europe attempted to qualify for the shoutout race. The fastest 32 drivers on the leaderboard went head to head in the knock-out races.
The first race took place at the digital version of the Bilsterberg racetrack, on which the drivers had to show what they were made of in GT4 cars. This was followed immediately by race two at the Red Bull Ring. Here, the sim racers were at the wheel of GT3 cars.
MRS Esports was not simply looking for fast drivers, but the human factor also plays a major role. As such, the six fastest drivers were interviewed via Zoom. This gave MRS Esports captain Marc Gassner the opportunity to get to know the drivers better. Based on the results of the shootout and the impressions gained during the Zoom calls, the following drivers were selected for the MRS Esports Team:
Tim Jarschel / GER, Alexander Dornieden / GER, Attila Diner / GER, Max Pfeifer / GER and Matija Marković / Montenegro
Together with Marc Gassner, they now form the MRS Esports Team. Their first big test comes on 1st June 2021, when Marc Gassner, Tim Jarschel, Alexander Dornieden and Max Pfeifer go in pursuit of the first success for the new team in the 2021 ADAC GT Masters Esports Championship.
Attila Diner and Matija Marković will line up in the new GT4 support series.
“We are extremely positively surprised by the huge response to our selection process, and that some good and renowned drivers from the scene applied. It was not an easy choice to make, but I think we have now put together a powerful team that will represent the MRS team superbly on a wide range of sim racing platforms,” said MRS team principal Iris Dorr.
