Timo Scheider moves into ADAC Formula 4 : Perfect opportunity

A team managed by two-time DTM champion Timo Scheider is the first to throw its hat into the ring for the debut season of the ADAC Formula 4 series in 2015. Since 2010, Scheider has been bringing on young talent by means of his own karting team. With the establishment of Team Scheider for the ADAC junior open-wheel racing series, the DTM driver aims to give young drivers a further opportunity to make a career for themselves in professional motorsport.

Scheider is enthusiastic about the whole concept of the newly created ADAC Formula 4 series: "Formula 4 is cost effective and provides an excellent framework. For me and my team, it is the perfect opportunity to take the next step in terms of youth development."

Lars Soutschka, ADAC Director Motorsport: "In Team Scheider managed by two-time DTM champion Timo Scheider, we officially welcome a team with a familiar name and the first of a distinguished line that will be entering the 2015 ADAC Formula 4 season. This shows how much credibility and esteem our newly created junior series has already attracted. Many teams have expressed an interest in ADAC Formula 4. I am sure that we will have a large and exciting field of entrants for the first season of our reorganised junior formula series."

The ADAC has an illustrious tradition of promoting junior single-seater talent. This has long been the starting point for future stars of the sport. In the past, Formula 1 drivers such as four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, Nico Hülkenberg, Ralf Schumacher and Nico Rosberg as well as DTM stars such as Pascal Wehrlein, Martin Tomczyk and Timo Glock took the first step in their successful careers via the various ADAC junior formula series.
