ADAC Formel 4·24.8.2015

3 questions to local favourite Kim Luis Schramm: A real challenge

Kim Luis, your home is only around a 90-minute drive from the Sachsenring. Would you like to to tell us about the track's peculiarities.

The Sachsenring is an extremely challenging circuit which I know well from my time in the Formel ADAC. The track is quite narrow and is a real roller-coaster. Driving will certainly be a challenge in view of the large entry field in the ADAC Formula 4. A good grid position in qualifying is important in order to stay clear of the battles for position in the tight midfield as much as possible.

And the gravel beds along the track are a source of additional pressure during the race, are they?

Yes, indeed. It could get tricky, especially for newcomers to formula racing. Every mistake is punished, as there are no tarmac run-off areas. But it's not just the gravel beds – the entire circuit demands your full concentration and a high level of fitness. The Sachsenring is still a proper circuit that follows the terrain, which is a rare thing these days.

How do you rate your chances in your home fixture?

A podium would be super. The way the season has gone so far, it's not always been easy for us, so it would be really great to achieve a success on home turf. Family and friends have said that they'll be there and will definitely cheer me on from the stands. I've got a really good feeling this time. We were among the fastest in testing at the Sachsenring few weeks ago.
