ADAC Formel 4·5.6.2015

Comments on Friday : It's incredibly tight

David Beckmann (15, GER, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport): "All in all, that was a very good day today. In the first free practice session, which also happened to be a first for me in ADAC Formula 4, I had some slight problems with the steering. By the time the second session came around, we had sorted that out. Things then went very smoothly, and we were able to learn a lot. If we can build on our fastest time from free practice, I think I can secure a good result in qualifying."

Robert Shwartzman (15, RUS, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport): "It went very well today, and I was fast in both sessions. After setting my personal best in Session 1, I was also topping the timesheet until shortly before the end when my team-mate David caught me up. I was very happy with the balance of my car, and I was able to post consistent lap times. A Top Three result in qualifying might be on the cards. The races will be exciting, because I've never driven here before. At the start, the track ascends sharply, which is tricky. But for our team, it was super today, so I'm not unduly worried."

Janneau Esmeijer (18, NED, HTP Juniorteam): "In FP1, we tried some new things. Having been third fastest in the second session, we have seen that we can compete at the top. But I'm not yet totally satisfied. Qualifying tomorrow should be interesting, because it takes place very early. We will therefore need to adjust everything to the cooler temperatures. If we manage to do that successfully, this could work to our advantage. I'm obviously hoping to take pole position, but that will by no means be easy."

Carrie Schreiner (16, GER, HTP Juniorteam): "This is my first ADAC Formula 4 race weekend. There are a lot of things which I still have to get used to - absolutely everything is new to me. My times weren't all that good, but I just have to keep working at it and believe in myself. I learn with every kilometre I drive, and I have great support from the whole team. Tomorrow is a new day, so let's see what it brings!"

Thomas Preining (16, AUT, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport): "The second session began very well for me. Until the halfway point, I was in the Top Three. Towards the end, though, I fell back slightly because I was unable to improve on my lap times - I was probably pushing too hard. In qualifying, a place among the Top Five would be very good. That should be possible. In any case, it's going to be exciting - the situation at the top is incredibly tight."

Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark): "It was OK today. In the first session, I was lacking speed on the straights because I was unable to drive in anyone's slipstream. In FP2, I got stuck in traffic which cost me quite a bit of time. So it wasn't easy today, but that shouldn't be a problem in qualifying when we're separated into groups. Let's see how things go."

Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing): "Free practice was OK. In the first session, unfortunately, I was unable to put in a complete run on fresh tyres and finished eighth. FP2 was better, I only had a little traffic. We have gathered a lot of data today which we're now going to analyse as a team. I'm confident that we can qualify in the Top Five."
