Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark): "This win was really a great relief for me. I fought hard against Joey and won through in the end. I knew I was faster and was waiting for him to make a mistake. When he actually made an error, I took my chance and went into the lead. I had already tried my luck going down the straight but then pulled back. I needed every point in view of being disqualified from Race 1 and was taking no chances. I now have to tackle the final race from the back of the field and see that as a challenge. I like overtaking and am looking forward to some exciting battles. I'm certain that I'll leave the Lausitzring as championship leader."
Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing): "Frankly, I'm disappointed with second place after this race. I had a good start and went straight into the lead. I was struggling a bit on the early laps but still managed to keep Joel Eriksson behind me - until the safety car came out. I had some dirt on the tyres after the re-start and skidded. That error cost me the win, but I didn't give up and was right behind Eriksson when the safety car came back out on track again. It was a great pity that the race was not green-flagged, otherwise the final laps would have been exciting. We had a good and fair fight prior to that."
Robert Shwartzman (15, RUS, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport): "The weekend could hardly have started better for me. I had the fastest car on the track, as in the first race, so a big thank you to my team. I gradually worked my way forwards and finally used slipstreaming to overtake Esmeijer and claim third place. I've now achieved my fifth podium in a row, and I'm thrilled. Actually, I've not altered much compared to the beginning of the season. There were a few small things, and we were a bit unlucky as well. The experience I've gained is now paying off. Finishing regularly on the podium is the best proof of that."
Mike Ortmann (15, GER, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport): "Second rookie win in the second race at the Lausitzring - a perfect result. The speed of my car was not quite as good as in the first race on Saturday afternoon. I could not quite keep up with the leaders. I concentrated on defending my position and on keeping my pursuers at bay."
Kim Luis Schramm (17, GER, Neuhauser Racing): "I´m quite pleased with today´s two races. I pulled out all the stops in the first race in particular. Seventh place on the grid is also a good starting position for Race 3, of course, due to the reversed-grid positions. My front wing was damaged, unfortunately, in a minor incident in the second race. I had to fight in those sections of track where downforce is needed. I made another small mistake after the safety car period which cost me two places. Still, it was a good race all in all."
Jason Kremer (20, GER, Team Timo Scheider): " My plan paid off and how!: I aimed to secure tenth place in the first race, so as to be on pole for Race 3 on Sunday. My start to the race was initially not good, because I got the wrong line. I was in twelfth place during the safety car period. I was then able to overtake two other cars. In the second race, unfortunately, someone was a bit too keen and ran into my car, causing me to puncture. That was annoying, but the focus is on Sunday´s race. We want to win from pole!"
Michael Waldherr (18, GER, Motopark): "My record-breaking charge was great. Actually, it had been planned for the first race. After two laps, I´d gained a similar number of places as later in Race 2. However, there were several incidents, and there was no longer any chance of securing a good result. So, it´s a good job that all it all worked out this afternoon and I moved up 25 places, enabling me to even finish in the points from way down the field."
Arlind Hoti (16, GER, Jenzer Motorsport): "I got away to a good start in the first race and managed to overtake a couple of cars. Then there was a contact and my front wing got twisted. There was, unfortunately, a further incident in the penultimate corner in which my car was damaged, and I turned off into the pit lane. The second race was better. I was able to drive closer to the limit and moved up from 22nd place to eleventh. I overtook half the field, so I´m entitled to feel happy about that."
Carrie Schreiner (16, GER, HTP Juniorteam): "I started today´s two races from relatively far back and finished both in P19. I was reasonably lucky and also benefited from mistakes made by others. My performance was relatively good. The hot weather caused me a few problems. It was the first time that I´ve competed in such high temperatures, so I´m pleased to have seen the chequered flag in all of today´s races, plus, I didn´t get involved in any incidents. Tomorrow, I´d like to carry on where I left off today."
Marek Böckmann (18, GER, Jenzer Motorsport): "Wow, that first race was tough! I was knocking on the door of the Top Ten when I almost spun full circle in the last corner, which cost me a position. That resulted in a couple of collisions, and I was handed a drive-through penalty, which effectively finished my race. In Race 2, I was forced to make an excursion across the grass at one point. Dirt got in the tyres, causing me to misbrake and damage my front wing. It´s a pity, but I get another chance to score a decent result tomorrow."
