Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark): "In the first race, I got off to a good start and was quickly up to third. However, I once again had problems with the car from the halfway point in the race. I didn´t try too hard to fend off the attack from behind because I was more concerned about coming home safely in fourth and not risking further attacks by my pursuers. In the second race, the difficulties resurfaced unfortunately, and in the second half I was falling further and further behind. Now I´ve lost the championship lead, but I´m not going to give up and I intend to get it back."
Jonathan Cecotto (16, VEN, Motopark): "I knew from my starting position before the first race that it would be difficult. But I made the best of it and battled my way forward to eleventh place. Unfortunately, I narrowly missed out on tenth place which would have given me pole position tomorrow. In the second race, I wanted to continue in the same vein, but unfortunately the safety car deployments meant that there weren´t many opportunities."
Jason Kremer (20, GER, Timo Scheider Team): "I gave it everything I´ve got, and I managed to gain a few positions, but it wasn´t easy today. The setup of the car is not perfect and we´re looking into the reasons for that. After the weekend at the Lausitzring, I was convinced that we had made a big step forward. Now we have some work ahead of us, but we´ll get it sorted."
Moritz Müller-Crepon (18, CH, Jenzer Motorsport): "I am not satisfied with the way the races went today. In the first race, I made a couple of blunders. That opened up the gap between me and the group in front quite considerably, and I wasn´t able to close it after that. In the second race, I was unfortunately rear-ended and subsequently had some problems. It´s a shame, because we performed quite well during the tests here, but now very little seems to be going right."
Ralf Aron (17, EST, Prema Powerteam): "Our pace was unfortunately not adequate today. We don´t know the reasons yet, but we´re working on a solution and think we are on the right track. I hope we are faster again tomorrow faster, but so far the weekend certainly hasn´t been our finest. We are considerably slower than the front-runners, and that´s where we really want to be."
Cedric Piro (17, GER, Piro Sports): "In the first race, I unfortunately stalled on the starting line. However, my pace was good after that. I managed to make good several positions and got involved in some nice scraps, so I went into the second race feeling quite upbeat. My start was good, but then I was unfortunately involved in a collision which I simply couldn´t avoid."
Jan Jonck (16, DK, RS Competition): "I got off to a good start in the first race, but I lost a few positions in a wheel-to-wheel battle. Then I made a bit of progress towards the front. At the end of the field, things were slightly chaotic, so we didn´t want to hang around there too long. The setup was best in the first race, but we were struggling a bit with understeer. We tried a change for the second race, but that made it no better."
Tim Zimmermann (18, GER, Neuhauser Racing): "I am absolutely not satisfied with the weekend so far. During the tests, I had the impression that we had managed a big step forward, but that turns out not to have been the case. In the first race, I struggled with understeer. After a few changes in the lunch break, the problem in the second race had now become oversteer. We are looking for a solution so that I can make the best of my pole position in the third race on Sunday."
Marvin Dienst (18, GER, HTP Juniorteam), Winner:"This weekend is a repeat of Oschersleben. I took a double victory at the start of the season, which gave me the championship lead. The second half of the season has started in exactly the same way. I got a good start and went into the lead before the first corner. The car sat really well and the speed was perfect. I want to thank my team for their superb work; we got faster with every session. We made a few small changes before the second race that worked equally as well. I now lead the championship and am pleased, of course. But what´s important is to be on top at the end of the season – so far, everything is going according to plan."
Janneau Esmeijer (18, NED, HTP Juniorteam), Second:"It´s obviously disappointing to start two races from pole position and to immediately lose P1 in both. My starts have been pretty good up to now, but they simply aren´t going right this weekend. It was a mixture of different factors that allowed my team-mate Marvin to squeeze past once again. Victory really was within my grasp in this race, because I was getting faster and faster towards the end. But after the second safety car deployment, I didn´t have enough time to mount a fresh attack. All the same, though, I´m pleased about the podium and the super performance of our car."
Robert Shwartzman (15, RUS, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), Third:"I´m very pleased to have finished on the podium after starting from sixth on the grid. In contrast to the first race, I got off to a great start this time and was immediately able to overtake two opponents. I then got into a tight situation with my team-mate but came out of it ahead. When I eventually found myself running third, I managed to keep up with the race leaders without any difficulty, and I also built up a sizeable gap on the fourth-placed car. The safety car then made things a bit tricky again, but fortunately, I was able to secure third place at the finish line."
David Beckmann (15, GER, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), best-placed rookie:"I wanted to win a trophy at the Nürburgring, and now I´ve got one to take home with me. If I´d just had a better start, I might have got more out of this race. But I know the reasons why, and I´ll do things better next time. I fell back down the field and had to work my way back up again. On the final lap, I wanted to overtake Ralf Aron, so I mounted a surprise attack. It was a fair scrap in which I came out on top."
