Marvin Dienst (18, DEU, HTP Junior Team) underscored his credentials as the main title contender at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The current ADAC Formula 4 championship set the fastest time in the second free practice session. Dienst put in a hot lap of 01:27.020 minutes around the 3.69km track which will also be used for the DTM this weekend. The 18-year-old goes into the penultimate race fixture of 2015 with good memories: in the season opener at the same venue, he won the first two races in the history of ADAC Formula 4.
Second fastest behind Dienst was David Beckmann (15, DEU , kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport). The rookie, a member of the kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport squad, posted a flying lap of 01:27.165 minutes, a margin of only 0.145 seconds on session leader Dienst. FP2 gave a flavour of how the rest of the weekend may pan out, as less than one second separated the Top 15.
Title hopeful Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing) also made a good start to the weekend. Currently placed third in the table, he set a third-fastest lap time of 01:27.375 minutes. Second-placed Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark) played a less prominent role in the proceedings, finishing twelfth after putting in 18 laps.
Janneau Esmeijer (18, NL, HTP Junior Team) was fourth fastest after topping the timesheets in FP1. Esmeijer and Dienst have thus given their HTP Junior Team good cause for optimism at the start of the Oschersleben weekend. Also putting in a strong performance were Dutch outfit Van Amersfoort Racing, as Joey Mawson was joined in the Top Five by team-mate Mick Schumacher (16, CH, Van Amersfoort Racing) with a personal best of 1.27.498 minutes.
Giorgio Maggi (17, CH, Race Performance), Marek Böckmann (18, DEU, Jenzer Motorsport) and Kim Luis Schramm (18, DEU, Neuhauser Racing) completed the Top Eight in FP2. Underlining the highly competitive nature of ADAC High-Speed Academy is the presence of drivers from six different teams in the first eight positions.
