ADAC Formel 4·12.11.2015

Joel Eriksson's season: The ADAC Formula 4 is the strongest FIA Formula 4 series

What was your personal highlight of 2015?

To begin with, there was the weekend at the Red Bull Ring where I secured my first win - the turning point of the season. These were not outstanding races, but I took two wins. I was free of worry from then on and then had another great weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. Plus, there was my success at the Lausitzring where I received a penalty and secured a win in the second race. That was perhaps the best weekend of the season, especially since I had to start from the back in the third race and yet still finished ninth after doing lots of overtaking.

What goals did you set yourself before the start of the season, and would you say in retrospect that you attained them?

My goal was obviously to win the championship, but HTP Juniorteam were incredibly fast, while the other teams were all roughly on the same level. I always gave it my all and worked hard, so it was naturally a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, second place in what is the strongest FIA Formula 4 series in my opinion is not bad.

What did you learn as far as driving goes from taking part in the ADAC Formula 4, and where will we be seeing you in 2016?

I've probably become steadier and more consistent this season. I can get more out of the car now than last year. My starts have also improved. The plan for 2016 is to contest the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, but we'll have to see what happens.
