Prema Powerteam experienced a positive weekend once again as they line-up at Red Bull Ring for the second round of the 2015 ADAC Formula 4 Championship. The Italian squad showcased a winning pace with their two drivers Guan Yu Zhou and Ralf Aron, and while they were unable to secure a win this time, the potential emerged, was extremely high.
In Race 1, both Aron and Zhou made it to the podium, second and third in respective order, edging a batch of experienced runners and repeating what they had achieved in Oschersleben. The other two races weren't equally lucky. In Race 2, which featured a reverse starting grid, the Chinese, coming from the Ferrari Driver Academy, took 7th place while his Estonian team-mate was penalised for a contact.
Then at the first lap of race 3, a multi-car contact sent the guiltless Zhou airborne in a very dangerous roll against the barriers. He was checked-in at a local hospital but luckily escaped any physical damage. The messy situation also brought Aron to retire.
After briefly leading the championship after the first race, Aron is now fourth, just eleven points off the lead.
Angelo Rosin - Team Principal: "First of all, we are really, really happy that Zhou is ok after such a dangerous shunt. On-track, we once again showcased our full capabilities. Despite the contacts hampered our run overall, both Zhou and Aron showed they are already in direct contention with the series' frontrunners, including the most experienced ones. And they were on an unknown track. With a little more luck, we could have made it back as the championship leaders, but it's not really a problem. It has been a great way to train and improve, on a circuit that will definitely be part of many international calendars in the future".
