Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark), Winner: "It's a brilliant feeling to win a race at my favourite track, Spa-Francorchamps. This circuit is really something special and totally unique. My start went very well and I immediately drew away from my opponents. The two safety-car periods did not disturb my concentration in any way. I had no problem after the restarts in quickly pulling out a lead again. My car ran perfectly. I've taken a very important step towards the championship with this win. I couldn't feel any better at the moment."
Guan Yu Zhou (16, CHN, Prema Powerteam), Second: "This is the first time in my career that I've contested a race in Spa-Francorchamps. It's just terrific to now stand on the podium and at the same time take the top spot in the rookie class. I got away to a good start and quickly overtook Robert Shwartzman. A win might even have been possible, but the second safety car period got in the way, unfortunately. After a difficult end to the last race weekend in Austria, I'm totally happy with P2. I would like to thank my team - the car was really super today."
Robert Shwartzman (15, RUS, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), Third: "To achieve my maiden podium in the ADAC Formula 4 at this particular track is a momentous occasion for me. I'm really very pleased. A big thank you to my team - my car was set up perfectly in qualifying, giving me the chance to start the race from second on the grid. I had a few problems with grip on the initial laps, which enabled Ralf Aron to overtake me. I retook P3 as soon as I had got everything back under control. From that moment on, I was able to consistently catch up, but in the end the safety car made an attack impossible. Still, the result is super."
Lando Norris (15, GBR, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), P4: "This is my first race in the ADAC Formula 4, plus it's my first time at Spa-Francorchamps. Most of the other drivers have had the opportunity to test here already. Unfortunately, I missed out on the experience. So far, things have gone really well. I came fourth in the race and can be well satisfied with this result. Obviously, I'm hoping to do even better on Sunday."
Giorgio Maggi (17, CHE, SMG Swiss Motorsport Group), P9: "Unfortunately, my start from eleventh on the grid wasn't perfect. In the race, I was struggling with understeer in the slipstream. Even so, I was able to gain a few positions. The positive aspect is that P9 today means that I'll be starting from second in the third race on Sunday. I'm hoping for rain, because that makes things happen."
Michael Waldherr (18, GER, Motopark), P11: "The difficult qualifying session didn't produce the best starting position for the race, of course. From P16 on the grid, the aim was to get a result in the Top Ten and in that way secure a good starting position for the third race. I came very close to fulfilling that objective, but I misbraked during the safety car period and made an illegal pass on another driver. The race was stopped after that, and I had no way to let him overtake again. The result was subsequently adjusted - quite correctly - and I was reclassified as eleventh."
Tim Zimmermann (18, GER, Neuhauser Racing), P13: "Unfortunately, I had an incident in qualifying, so I had to start from almost the very back. But the race was great. I made up 21 places and only just missed out on the Top Ten. Unfortunately, I've lost a lot of points so far this season either through by bad luck or other incidents. But I'm not giving up, and I hope that things will get better soon."
Kim Luis Schramm (17, GER, Neuhauser Racing), P14: "The race started in really promising fashion because I managed to gain a lot of positions. The aim was a placing in the Top Ten, and that almost worked out. Unfortunately, I got hit by another car and spun round in the middle of the race. That dropped me right down the field."
Luca Engstler (15, GER, Engstler Motorsport), P25: "This weekend is my first time at Spa-Francorchamps. Many of the other drivers have far more experience on this track, which was apparent in qualifying. I had to start the race from quite far back but managed to work my way forward to 25th. I am very satisfied with this result."
Mauro Auricchio (17, BRA, Team Timo Scheider), P29: "I had to start the race from the back following an incident in qualifying. It started well and I was immediately able to win a couple of positions. Not long after, our car developed technical problems, and we had to settle for 29th."
Carrie Schreiner (16, GER, HTP Juniorteam), P30: "It was very special to compete in my first ADAC Formula 4 race. However, I didn't get off the line very well. Also, I made a few small mistakes. Overall, though, I managed to make up some positions and noticed an improvement in my performance. I know I still have a lot to learn, but I can see that things are moving forward."
Marylin Niederhauser (19, CHE, Race Performance), P32: "My start was good, and I immediately made up a few positions. I'm also satisfied with my restart after the first safety car, because I was able to defend my position. Unfortunately, I got held up by another car on Eau Rouge and then lost a few places on the straight. Towards the end of the race, I got involved in an interesting scrap with Michelle Halder which she came out of ahead. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the result because the top priority for me is to build up my experience and make steady improvement."
Marvin Dienst (18, GER, HTP Juniorteam), DNF: "It seems that I was out of luck on the first race of the weekend. It was all over after nine corners. Unfortunately, I was involved in a collision with an opponent and had to retire. So not only was I unable to score any championship points but I will also have to start from the back of the grid in Sunday's race. That was obviously not the desired outcome."
Cedric Piro (17, GER, Piro Sports), DNF: "My start was not perfect, unfortunately. On the first few laps, the car felt very good and I was able to gain some positions. Not long after, though, there was a collision with another car and I went out prematurely. That was a shame, because I think that a decent result would otherwise have been possible today."
