ADAC Formel 4·2.10.2015

Second best time for Dienst in home fixture: Top 17 covered by one second

Perfect conditions for the grand finale at the Hockenheimring. The young ADAC Formula 4 talents continued to prepare for the final three races of the 2015 season as the sun shone and temperatures hit 23 degrees and more in second practice. Again, two youngsters fielded by HTP F4 Junior Team UNGAR beat off competition from the rest of the field.

Championship contender Marvin Dienst (18, DEU, HTP F4 Junior Team UNGAR) took first place with a personal best of 1:41.209 minutes. Team-mate Janneau Esmeijer (18, NLD, HTP F4 Junior Team UNGAR) slotted into second position. His deficit on Dienst, who could clinch the title win in his home race, was only 0.083 seconds.

The fight for the top places was really close. David Beckmann (15, DEU, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) achieved third-fastest lap time on Friday afternoon with a 1:41.297 minutes and was just five thousandths of a second down on Esmeijer. Consequently, the same three drivers finished on top as in the first session.

The finale at the historic Hockenheim circuit promises to be a very exciting fight for the championship. Dienst´s title rivals also came home in the Top Eight in second practice. Placed second overall, Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark) covered the circuit in 1:41.714 minutes on his best lap and thus placed seventh. The third-placed driver in the championship, Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing), finished eighth. His deficit on Eriksson was just four hundredths of a second. The fastest 17 drivers were separated by less than one second, which is testimony to the high level of competition in the ADAC Formula 4.

The rookies in particular did well as the last race weekend got under way. Lando Norris (15, GBR, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) slotted into fourth position directly behind team-mate and newcomer to formula racing, Beckmann. ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Tim Zimmermann (19, DEU, Neuhauser Racing) was fifth. A third rookie fielded by kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport, Mike Ortmann (15, DEU, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) placed in the Top Six.
