Opener of sixth ADAC Formula 4 race weekend. The young talents of the ADAC High-Speed Academy will contest races 16, 17 and 18 of the season at the Sachsenring. Drivers got a chance to familiarise themselves with one of the most demanding circuits on the racing calendar during first practice this Friday morning.
Robert Shwartzman (15, RUS, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) made the best start to the weekend in the damp conditions. On a wet track, the kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport driver went to the top of the timesheet on his last flying lap. Shwartzman covered the circuit in 1:31.876 minutes on his best lap. He was the only one of all 32 drivers to crack 1:32.
Jason Kremer (20, DEU, Team Timo Scheider) improved to take second place in the closing seconds of practice by setting two personal best times and fastest time of anyone on the second sector. The Team Timo Scheider driver posted a 1:32.021 on his fastest lap, just 0.145 seconds down on Shwartzman´s best time.
Impressive showing by Eriksson
Joel Eriksson (17, SWE, Motopark) won this first battle of the championship contenders. The Team Motopark driver, who is currently placed second in the championship standings, slotted into third position on the timesheet. He left title rival and current championship leader Marvin Dienst (18, GER, HTP Junior Team) trailing by posting a personal best time of 1:32.212 minutes. Dienst was 0.378 seconds off the pace and finished sixth. Joey Mawson (19, AUS, Van Amersfoort Racing), the third placed driver in the championship standings, came home in sixth position behind Marek Böckmann (18, DEU, Jenzer Motorsport).
Giorgio Maggi (17, CHE, Race Performance), David Beckmann (15, DEU, kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), Janneau Esmeijer (18, NED, HTP Junior Team) and Harrison Newey (17, GBR, Van Amersfoort Racing) completed the Top Ten in first practice. The day continues for the youngsters with second practice at 12:35 CET. Split into two groups, the young formula racing talents will then battle it out in qualifying at 15:35 CET to secure the best positions on the grid for the first two of this weekend´s three races.

Fans can watch all three ADAC Formula 4 races from the Sachsenring live on TV. SPORT1 will broadcast the first race on Saturday, August 29th at 11:55 am and the third race on Sunday at 4:00 pm.
