Team Timo Scheider will welcome new addition Jason Kremer to the ADAC Formula 4. The 20-year-old will strengthen the outfit led by team boss Timo Scheider as of this next race weekend in Spa-Francorchamps (June 19th-21st). Kremer replaces junior driver Leon Wippersteg for the third race weekend of the season at the well established Belgian circuit.
In Kremer, Team Timo Scheider have signed a driver who has already had a successful career in junior formula motor racing. The Bonn-based junior is the most experienced ever in the annals of the Formel ADAC, the predecessor series to the new ADAC Formula 4. In 72 races, Kremer achieved 18 podiums and holds the record for points in the seven-year history of the single-seater series which can never be beaten.
Kremer proved his talent in the VW Scirocco R-Cup during the 2014 season. He finished runner-up in the top-class one-make cup series at his first attempt in his debut year. Kremer now returns to single-seater racing to support Team Timo Scheider with his experience. The junior has enjoyed a great deal of success at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the past. In the 2013 Formel ADAC season, Kremer secured pole position and won one race there, achieving two podiums in all.
"I´m really thrilled to be back in a single-seater," said Kremer. "I had some excellent discussions with Timo Scheider and am proud to be in the hunt for points with his ambitious squad. I´m sure that I´ll soon get used to the Formula 4 racing car with the crew´s support. There can hardly be a better place than Spa for my return to open-wheel racing. I´ve done very well there in the past, achieving some success, and that´s what I intend to build on now."
Team principal Timo Scheider: "I am extremely pleased that Jason will strengthen our outfit at this next race weekend in Spa-Francorchamps He has proved his formula racing talent on many occasions in recent years and I am certain that he is the right driver for our team at this moment in time. His experience will certainly benefit us and we will do everything we can to see that he gets acclimatised to the ADAC Formula 4 as quickly as possible. At the same time, I feel very sorry for Leon. We would really have liked to have continued working with him, particularly as he has come up from our junior karting team."
Races seven, eight and nine are on the programme at Spa-Francorchamps. SPORT1 will feature all three races live on free-to-air TV. Team Timo Scheider secured their first points of the season last time out at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Apart from Kremer, Brazilian Mauro Auricchio will take his seat in the cockpit of a 160-bhp Formula 4 racing car. Yan-Leon Shlom, the team´s third driver, has school commitments and must miss the race weekend in Belgium. He will be back in action for the next fixture at the Lausitzring.
