Thomas, you finished on the podium at your first attempt on your formula racing debut at Oschersleben. That's how things are set to continue, right?
Achieving a podium was a really perfect way to start my single-seater racing career. I didn't have much opportunity for testing over the winter and had to get used to everything first. I'm now looking forward to my home race at Spielberg. Of course, I want to build on my previous good performance and secure more points. Perhaps I'll manage to finish on the podium again.
Will lining up in front of your home crowd be something special?
In theory, the races are all alike, and yet it will be special. The Red Bull Ring is a really cool track and I'm looking forward to it very much. Some of my friends and sponsorship partners have already announced their intention to be there. However, I don't feel any particular pressure. Rather, I'll tackle the races with an extra dose of motivation. We intend to attack again in Spielberg!
What are the biggest challenges at the Red Bull Ring?
Turn 1 should be no problem because of the large run-off areas at the exit, but it should get pretty exciting and close after the long straight where there's a hairpin in the second turn. We'll be travelling at around 210 km/h running through this section and will have to be very careful to avoid any risk of collision. Personally, I'm especially looking forward to the penultimate curve. It always looked great in other formula races and I can't wait to race through it myself for the first time.
