ADAC Formel 4·14.12.2015

Yan Leon Shlom's season: Charging up the field at Spielberg

What was your personal highlight of 2015?

For me personally, the highlight of the year was the weekend at the Red Bull Ring. I have particularly vivid memories of my charge up the field in the third race when I managed to work my way up from 17th to ninth place. That was a great experience for me!

What goals did you set yourself before the start of the season, and would you say in retrospect that you attained them?

Like most of the others, I had set myself the goal of a Top Three finish. Something that I was unfortunately unable to achieve. But that's OK, because after all, 2015 was my first year in a formula racing car. I had simply too little experience behind me. And I think that is crucial in racing.

What did you learn as far as driving goes from taking part in the ADAC Formula 4, and where will we be seeing you in 2016?

I will take away a lot of things from my first year in ADAC Formula 4, for example how to overtake and how to identify the optimum racing line on the track. I've also learnt various things in the technical area. For example, about adjusting the settings during setup. As regards next season, I would like a cockpit in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
