The 183-day wait is over - the ADAC Formula 4 finally returned to the racetrack on Monday. The drivers in the junior formula series posted their first kilometres at Oschersleben during the first four training sessions of the new season. Their last race was on 4th October 2015 at the finale of the inaugural season in Hockenheim.
Driving for Kerpen-based team US Racing which is led by team bosses Ralf Schumacher and Gerhard Ungar, Kim-Luis Schramm set the fastest time on the first day of testing. Schramm impressed with his consistency, finishing in the Top Three in all four outings. He managed to post a 1:26:806 in the final session, the fastest lap of the day.
Mick Schumacher, the son of record-breaking Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, also made a good impression and was quick. His time of 1:26:974 in the second session was the fifth fastest of the day. Schumacher is tackling his second season in ADAC Formula 4 and will line up for Prema Powerteam from Italy during 2016. Mike David Ortmann (ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV/1:26.868), who is sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation, Nicklas Nielsen (Neuhauser Racing/1:26.935) and Juan Manuel Correa from Schumacher's Prema Powerteam (1:26.941) were only marginally faster.
The ADAC Formula 4 will get the new season under way very soon, on 15th April in Oschersleben. That does not leave entrants much time, so the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben was very busy when the racing cars rolled out on track promptly at 8:30 am. The ambitious drivers moving up from karting and the other young talents had four hours in all to go through their programmes. There will be three more sessions on Tuesday, starting at 9:35 am.
