Rookie Juri Vips (15, Estonia, Prema Powerteam) set the fastest time in the second ADAC Formula 4 practice session at Spielberg, Austria. In a terrific time of 1:30.303 minutes, the Estonian finished in front of rookie Juan Manuel Correa (16, USA, Ecuador, Prema Powerteam, 1:30.423) and local driver Thomas Preining (18, Austria, Lechner Racing, 1:30.476).
Behind the trio came the two championship contenders, Mick Schumacher (17, Germany, Prema Powerteam, 1:30.514) and Joey Mawson (20, Australia, Van Amersfoort Racing), who currently heads the standings. Mawson was only marginally slower with a 1:30.568 after posting the fastest time of 1:30.402 in the first session this morning. However, Vips beat him in the second session and was even faster.
Places six to ten were taken by: Rookie Nicklas Nielsen (19, Denmark, Neuhauser Racing, 1:30.862), newcomer Sebastian Fernandez Wahbeh (16, Venezuela, RB Racing SA, 1:30.906), Moritz Müller-Crepon (19, Switzerland, Van Amersfoort Racing, 1:30.908), rookie Felipe Drugovich (16, Brazil, Neuhauser Racing, 1:30.964) and ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Jannes Fittje (17, Germany, US Racing, 1:30.967).
The field was tightly bunched in both sessions, so this afternoon´s quali, getting underway at 15.40 with drivers divided into two groups, promises to deliver thrills galore. Races 13, 14 and 15 of the season will follow on Saturday and Sunday and will be broadcast live on SPORT1 and SPORT1+.
