Kim-Luis Schramm fastest driver in FP1: US Racing driver three tenths quicker than the opposition

Kim-Luis Schramm (18, Germany, US Racing) repeated his fine performance from the season opener in Oschersleben by setting best time during the first ADAC Formula 4 free practice session in the Motorsport Arena. On a wet track, Schramm's fastest lap of 1:28.786 minutes during the 45-minute morning session was almost three tenths of a second faster than that of overall championship leader Joey Mawson (20, Australia, Van Amersfoort Racing).

The Australian, who won two races in the season opener at Oschersleben, covered the 3.696-metre Oschersleben circuit in 1:29.106 minutes. With a time of 1:29.231, Felipe Drugovich (16, Brazil, Neuhauser Racing) took third place from Finnish driver, Simo Laaksonen (17, Finland, Motopark, 1:29.245); Drugovich is currently second in the rookie standings.

The surprise race winner from the Lausitzring, Fabio Scherer (17, Switzerland, Jenzer Motorsport), placed fifth in the first practice session of the ADAC High-Speed School with a 1:29.445. Mick Schumacher (17, Germany, Prema Powerteam) posted the seventh-fastest time of 1:29.652 minutes, coming home behind Moritz Müller-Crepon (19, Switzerland, Van Amersfoort Racing, 1:29.448), who was sixth.

The qualis will be held this afternoon at 13.50 and 14.15 when two 20-minute sessions will be held with drivers split into two groups. The fastest lap times in qualifying determine the starting grid for Race 1. The second-fastest lap times will decide the grid for Race 2. There will be a third free practice session in Oschersleben on Saturday at 10:05 instead of a qualifying heat.

Three races will be staged during the race weekend at Oschersleben. The drivers will commence the hunt for points at 17.20 on Saturday. Race 2 is on Sunday at 9:40 and the third race follows at 17.15. SPORT1 will broadcast all three races live.
