Mick Schumacher again demonstrated his strong early form on the second day of testing for the ADAC Formula 4 new season. The 17-year-old, who is driving for the Italian Prema Powerteam in his second year in the junior formula racing series, posted the fastest time in the first stint of practice at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. With a 1:26.492, the son of record-breaking Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher even posted the fastest lap of anyone so far in testing.
However, Jannes Fittje (US Racing/1:26.521), who is sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation, and Kami Laliberté (Van Amersfoort Racing/1:26.623) were only marginally slower than Schumacher.
All 38 young drivers present used Tuesday morning to conscientiously rack up training kilometres. And they were quick! Six drivers in all, including Mick Schumacher, beat the best time of 1:26.806 set on Monday by Kim-Luis Schramm, who drives for Kerpen-based team US Racing led jointly by team principals Ralf Schumacher and Gerhard Ungar. Schramm missed going into the Top Three for the first time in the first session on Tuesday and booked P16. There are two more sessions later today at 13:20 and 15:30 pm.
The ADAC Formula 4 will get its second season under way on the weekend of 15th-17th April in Oschersleben.
