Championship contender Joey Mawson (20, Australia, Van Amersfoort Racing) dominated the second ADAC Formula 4 practice session during the season finale at the Hockenheimring. The Australian, who could become the second champion of the ADAC High-Speed Academy this weekend, posted the fastest time of 1:40.426 minutes, followed by ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Mike David Ortmann (16, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) and rookie Nicklas Nielsen (19, Denmark, Neuhauser Racing). In first practice, the order had been: Nielsen, Mawson, then Ortmann.
ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Jannes Fittje (17, Germany, US Racing) and Thomas Preining (18, Austria, Lechner Racing) placed fourth and fifth respectively. Mawson's championship rival Mick Schumacher (17, Germany, Prema Powerteam) came home sixth ahead of Louis Gachot (17, UK, US Racing), rookie Leonard Hoogenboom (16, Netherlands, Van Amersfoort Racing), Job van Uitert (17, Netherlands, Jenzer Motorsport) and rookie Felipe Drugovich (16, Brazil, Neuhauser Racing), who booked positions eight, nine and ten.
Qualifying, divided into two groups, is next up for the drivers of the ADAC High-Speed Academy at 13:55. The last three races of the season will then be held over the weekend. Joey Mawson has a cushion of 39 points on Mick Schumacher in the run-up to the final round. Germany's biggest sports channel SPORT1 will broadcast all three races live from Hockenheim.
