During this second ADAC Formula 4 practice session, rookie Lirim Zendeli (16, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) posted best time of 1:38.754 minutes on the North Sea circuit in the dunes at Zandvoort. The 16-year-old, who was second in first practice this morning, finished ahead of Kami Laliberte (16, Canada, Van Amersfoort Racing) and Oliver Söderström (18, Sweden, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV). Drivers were a little slower overall than they had been in first practice where Mike David Ortmann (16, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV) set the fastest time of 1:38.467 minutes. He came home in P28 in the second session.
Rookie Fabio Scherer (17, Switzerland, Jenzer Motorsport), championship leader Joey Mawson (20, Australia, Van Amersfoort Racing) and Kim-Luis Schramm (19, Germany, US Racing) took positions four, five and six respectively. Mick Schumacher (17, Germany Prema Powerteam), who is in second place in the championship standings, and the three rookies Nicklas Nielsen (19, Denmark, Neuhauser Racing) Felipe Drugovich (16, Brazil, Neuhauser Racing) and Juan Manuel Correa (17, USA, Ecuador, Prema Powerteam) completed the Top Ten.
Mawson and Schumacher have drawn away from the competition in the overall standings after their recent victories at the Nürburgring. The Australian leads with 297 points, while his former team-mate Schumacher is on 251.
Qualifying will take place this afternoon at 14.45 and 15:10 when two 20-minute sessions will be held with drivers split into two groups. Races 19, 20 and 21 will be contested during this Zandvoort race weekend. Drivers will line up on Saturday at 12.00 and 17:45 to hunt for points in the first two races. The third race will be staged on Sunday at 10:20. SPORT1 and SPORT1+ will broadcast all three fixtures live from the Netherlands.
