Felipe Drugovich continues to demonstrate excellent form in the ADAC Formula 4 series at the Motorsport Festival Lausitzring. The 16-year-old Brazilian, who drives for Van Amersfoort Racing, set the fastest time in the second free practice session. Drugovich’s lap of 01:22.955 minutes was the fastest so far on this second weekend of the season. It was more than a full second better than the time he posted in FP1 when he finished the session in P2.
However, Drugovich was only narrowly ahead of Julian Hanses (Germany, US Racing). The 19-year-old from Hilden was just 85 thousandths shy of the target. Hanses’ team-mate Fabio Scherer (17, Switzerland) finished the session third, 0.204 seconds adrift of the top spot.
In the first practice session held during the morning, Kim-Luis Schramm (19, Germany, US Racing) set the fastest time of 01:24.099 minutes.
Kami Laliberté (17, Canada, Van Amersfoort Racing) finished the second free practice in fourth place followed by current championship leader Juri Vips (16, Estonia, Prema Powerteam) in fifth. Completing the Top Ten were Juan Manuel Correa (17, USA/Ecuador, Prema Powerteam), Kim-Luis Schramm, last year’s Best Rookie champion Nicklas Nielsen (20, Denmark, US Racing), Marcus Armstrong (16, New Zealand, Prema Powerteam) and Frederik Vesti (15, Denmark, Van Amersfoort Racing).
This afternoon, the drivers of the ADAC High-Speed Academy get down to the serious business of qualifying. The session commences at 16:05 CEST. The starting order for the first race on Saturday (11:30 CEST) will be determined by the fastest lap times and for the second race (17:40 CEST also on Saturday) by the contestants’ second-best times. For the final race of the weekend to be contested on Sunday at 16:55 CEST, the Top Ten from Race 1 will start in reverse order. All races can be watched on SPORT1 and SPORT1+ as well as in a live-stream format on www.SPORT1.de and www.adac-motorsport.de.
