Kami Laliberté to remain in ADAC Formula 4: The Canadian will drive one more year for Dutch outfit, Van Amersfoort Racing

Canadian teenager Kami Laliberté (17) and Dutch racing team Van Amersfoort Racing will continue to work together for a third year in the ADAC Formula 4. The new season of the ADAC High-Speed School kicks off on the weekend of 28th - 30th April in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Some 21 races will be staged over seven weekends at six different racetracks in Austria and Germany this year. Apart from Laliberté, Louis Gachot (17, Great Britain) and Felipe Drugovich (16, Brazil) will also race for VAR in 2017.

Laliberté was just 15-years-old when he posted his first kilometres in the ADAC Formula 4 during the fifth race meeting of the season at the Nürburgring in 2015. He's made steady progress since then, taking his maiden victory in Van Amersfoort's home race at Zandvoort in the Netherlands last year. The next step should now follow in 2017.

“Kami has gained valuable experience and has become much more mature. He's even taken on additional challenges and has contested two full series in New Zealand during the last two winters,” says team principal Frits van Amersfoort, adding: “Whether on the race track or in the simulator – more kilometres always pay off in motor racing.” Kami has taken those words of wisdom on board, which has led to his progress."

Laliberté also intends to build on his good results of late and continue to attack: “I'm very pleased to have another year, during which I can build on what a top team like VAR has to offer. VAR can give me the best chance of success. I would like to use the experience I've gained to achieve decent results, be it in qualifying or in the race.”

Apart from the win at Zandvoort, Laliberté also achieved four podiums and ten top-ten finishes in his first full season in single seater racing. Laliberté placed ninth in the overall standings, contributing enormously to Van Amersfoort's second place in the team rankings. Only Italian racing team Prema Powerteam had more points in the end.
