Talented young racers dream of one day competing in Formula 1, but in the meantime, they have to manage a balancing act between sport, family and school. KiKa is about to launch a new season of 'Pole Position'. The first two of four new episodes of the long-running documentary about the younger generation contesting ADAC Formula 4 will be shown on Tuesday 9th May, starting at 20:10 CEST. Parts 3 and 4 will follow on Wednesday 10th May, also starting at 20:10 CEST. The series is produced by regional broadcaster SWR and focuses on three youngsters in particular: Sophia Flörsch (16) from Grünwald driving for the ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg team, Jannes Fittje (17) from Langenhain near Frankfurt and Michelle Halder (17) from Messkirch in Baden-Württemberg. The programme has its own web page (www.poleposition.de) where you can find an online media library with all episodes from the first season, the broadcast dates and other background information.
The first ten episodes of the TV documentary were shown between January and April of last year on the KiKa children's channel run jointly by ARD and ZDF. Viewers get a close-up look behind the scenes of the ADAC Formula 4 series in which the youngsters take their first steps towards a career in motor racing. The new episodes of this emotional roller-coaster were made during the ADAC Formula 4 season 2016 in response to the great success of the first season. The three young drivers were shadowed during the race weekends at Zandvoort, Oschersleben and the Sachsenring and also filmed with their families at home, with friends and in other aspects of their daily lives.
