The ADAC Formula 4 will continue to line up on tyres supplied exclusively by Pirelli for the next three years. The Italian premium tyre manufacturer was successful in a transparent and non-discriminatory tendering process and will equip the ADAC Formula 4 with tyres until 2020. Pirelli has been the exclusive tyre partner of the ADAC high-speed school since 2015. In addition to supplying the ADAC Formula 4, Pirelli will continue to equip the ADAC GT Masters exclusively with tyres; Pirelli was already successful in its tender to supply the Super Sports Car League at the end of September. The ADAC Formula 4 will again contest seven meetings in Germany and Austria during the 2018 season. SPORT1 and pay-to-view TV station SPORT1+ will broadcast the ADAC Formula 4's races live on television until 2020.
"After three successful years together, we are now also looking forward to continuing our partnership with Pirelli in the ADAC Formula 4," said ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk. "As they take their first steps in open-wheel racing, the young talents in the ADAC Formula 4 will line up on tyres from the same manufacturer that also exclusively supplies Formula 1. Using Pirelli's high-quality racing tyres, the ADAC Formula 4's junior drivers will have the best basis, on which to achieve their full potential."
"We are delighted to extend our agreement with the ADAC to act as sole suppliers of tyres to both the ADAC Formula 4 and the ADAC GT Masters until 2020," said Michael Wendt, CEO of Pirelli Deutschland GmbH. "We are now able through our continued involvement to give our racing tyres a very high profile in one of the world's most important automobile segments for another three years. The ADAC Formula 4 is one of the most popular series for juniors, and the ADAC GT Masters has long since become established as an extremely competitive race series. The ADAC GT Masters and the ADAC Formula 4 both play an important role among the more than 340 motor racing championships around the world, ranging from monoposto series like Formula 1 to endurance races, that Pirelli equip with tyres. Pirelli's strong commitment to motorsport is crucial in effectively supporting the transfer of technology from track to road."
The ADAC Formula 4 juniors will continue to utilise a tried and tested technology package, consisting of an Abarth 160-bhp turbocharged engine and Tatuus chassis, as they line up over the next two years. Pirelli's tyres will be mounted on rims from new rim partner ATS as of next year.
The ADAC Formula 4 will again stage seven meetings during 2018 under the banner of the ADAC GT Masters. The fourth season of the ADAC Formula 4 will kick off on the weekend of 13th - 15th April 2018 in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
