The final phase of preparing for the season has started for the ADAC Formula 4 teams and drivers with testing at Oschersleben. Frederik Vesti (16, Denmark, Van Amersfoort Racing) set the pace with barely three weeks to go before the start of the season at the Motorsport Arena. The Dane was fastest in two out of the three sessions and also set the fastest time of the first day of testing with a 1:23.619.
Four more sessions will follow on Wednesday before things start to get really serious at the season opener (13th - 15th April). SPORT1 will broadcast the ADAC Formula 4 races on TV. During these tests, teams will collect important data, find the right set-up and go over emergency procedures.
Vesti was fastest in the afternoon session and in the evening while Lirim Zendeli (18, Germany, US Racing CHRS) led the first session with a time of 1:24.051. Overall, the field was of a high standard and very evenly matched. In the evening session, for example, the gap between Vesti in P1 and Mick Wishofer (18, Austria, US Racing CHRS) in P13 was less than a second.
Ralf Schumacher's son, David Schumacher (16, Germany, US Racing CHRS), and Enzo Fittipaldi (16, Brazil, Prema Powerteam), grand-son of two-time Formula 1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi, also managed to keep up straightaway. Fittipaldi came home in the Top Ten in all three sessions and rookie Schumacher in two out of three.
The drivers in the ADAC high-speed school will have another early start on Wednesday, as the fourth session which is the longest, lasting two hours, will commence at 8.00 am. There are then three more sessions on the schedule at 12.35, 14.40 and 16.50.
