David Schumacher (Germany) secured the Rookie title in the second race of the season finale of the ADAC Formula 4 at the Hockenheimring before season's end. The son of ex-Formula 1 and DTM driver Ralf Schumacher won through despite puncturing after a contact on the first lap. "I was thinking of the title throughout the race. Winning the Rookie championship was my goal right from the beginning of the year, and now I've done it. Of course, I'm highly delighted. I didn't think I'd done enough," said Schumacher.

Before the last round of the season on Sunday at 3:40 pm, the 16-year-old driver from Team US Racing CHRS is on 317 points and cannot now be caught in the competition for junior drivers by his rival, Niklas Krütten (15, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.), who finished eighth. Series champion Lirim Zendeli (18, Germany, US Racing CHRS) celebrated his ninth win of the season.

While the championship and the classification for best newcomer may have been decided, the position of runner-up and the winners of the team competition have not yet been determined and tension will remain high until the final race on Sunday has been run, as Enzo Fittipaldi (17, USA/Brazil, Prema Theodore Racing), who had been second overall in the standings until now, retired on the opening lap as did fourth-placed Frederik Vesti (16, Denmark, Van Amersfoort Racing). By taking third place in Race 2 and second place in the first race of the day, Liam Lawson (16, New Zealand, Van Amersfoort Racing) with 234 points moved into position behind Zendeli (323). Fittipaldi (223), grandson of two-time Formula 1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi, slipped down into P3. Vesti (211) is still fourth.

Thanks to Mick Wishofer's second-place finish (18, Austria), US Racing CHRS regained the lead in the team classification from Van Amersfoort Racing, a position which the Dutch team had taken with their triple victory in the season opener. Ahead of the 20th race of the season, the Kerpen-based team are on 522 points, just ahead of the Dutch outfit (509).

In the first race of the day at the historic track in Baden-Württemberg, Belgian driver Charles Weerts (17) crowned Van Amersfoort Racing's triple triumph with his first victory of the season. Lawson and Vesti completed the party on the podium behind the Belgian. Schumacher had already wrapped up the Rookie title by finishing sixth and thus extending his lead on Krütten to 30 points before the second race. Zendeli was unable to make a bid for the podium after a drive-through penalty and finished seventh.

In the ADAC High-Speed Academy's last race on Sunday (starting at 15:40), the Top Eight from the second race will line up in reverse order, so Krütten, who was eighth in Saturday's second race, will start from pole position. We'll still be fighting to win the team classification tomorrow, and I want to secure my tenth win of the season, in which case, I will have won exactly half of all the races."

Charles Weerts (winner of the first race, Van Amersfoort Racing): "I'm really delighted with this first win. My hard work during the year with my engineers and team has paid off today. Yes, we've had some excellent results throughout the whole year, but there was always a little something missing. Everything went well today, and I'm really happy to have won. Of course, it was also a great victory for the team, because we are still in contention to win the team competition, so it's terrific that we finished first, second and third today."

Frederik Vesti (third in the first race, Van Amersfoort Racing): "I'm delighted for the team that we finished first, second and third today. We work very hard every week. My third place is good, since I started out from grid slot twelve. I executed a lot of overtaking manoeuvres and think I had the fastest car on the track - and that's nice. But on the other hand, I'm not really happy with third place. Third places are noting for me. I expected to achieve a great deal in the last race of the season. I want to win. I'm fourth in the standings. I have to push forwards and win- I'll do everything I can."
