Zendeli with best time again in second practice : New champion sets best time of the day in FP2 at Hockenheim

Champion Lirim Zendeli (18, GER, US Racing CHRS) set the best time of the day in the ADAC Formula 4's second practice session at the Hockenheimring. Zendeli, who was crowned champion of the ADAC High-Speed Academy during the penultimate meeting of the season at the Nürburgring, did not give Liam Lawson (16, New Zealand, Van Amersfoort Racing) a chance, posting a time of 1:40.264 minutes. The New Zealander was over seven hundredths of a second down on Zendeli. Lawson's team-mate Frederik Vesti (16, Denmark, Van Amersfoort Racing) was third.

David Schumacher (16, GER, US Racing CHRS) secured another minor victory in the battle with his rival, Niklas Krütten (15, GER, ADAC Berlin Brandenburg e.V.), for the top spot in the Rookie classification. The leader of the rankings for best newcomer, who is the son of ex-Formula 1 and DTM driver Ralf Schumacher, secured fifth place. Krütten pitted in seventh position not far behind Schumacher, who had also managed to edge him out earlier today in FP1.

Schumacher is on 284 points and leads this junior classification of the ADAC Formula 4 series from Krütten who has taken 20 points fewer than him from this season's previous 17 races. The battle at the Hockenheimring for the position of runner-up is also shaping up to be just as exciting. Enzo Fittipaldi (17, USA/Brazil, Prema Theodore Racing) is in second place behind the champion, Zendeli, and has the best chance of finishing runner-up in the overall standings. Enzo, the grandson of two-time Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, finished ninth on Friday morning and again in the afternoon. Lawson and team-mate Vesti are both within striking distance of the young Brazilian.

Racing continues with qualifying for the drivers on Friday at 6:25 pm. The first of three races in the season finale will get underway on Saturday at 11:20 am.
