The winter break is finally over, time now for the ADAC Formula 4 to start the new season at Oschersleben. Norwegian driver Dennis Hauger (Van Amersfoort Racing) posted the fastest lap time of 1:24.041 minutes during FP1 in the Motorsport Arena, consigning team-mate Niklas Krütten (Germany) to second place. Krütten finished runner-up last year in the Rookie classification and was 0.201 seconds slower than Hauger. Brazilian driver Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam) came home in third place.
Oliver Rasmussen (Prema Powerteam) finished fourth in his first practice session with the ADAC High Speed Academy. He pulled out a gap of just under half a second on Estonian driver Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam) in P5, who was best Rookie in first practice. Israel's Ido Cohen (Van Amersfoort Racing) finished sixth with a deficit of 0.700 seconds.
French teenager, Theo Pourchaire, was the fastest driver fielded by last year's championship-winning team, US Racing CHRS while his team-mate, Arthur Leclerc, was just three thousandths of a second slower. Prema's Alessandro Famularo and Roman Stanek from US Racing CHRS completed the Top Ten.
A second practice session for the ADAC Formula 4 juniors will be held this morning followed by qualifying at 3.35 pm. Three races in all will be held over the weekend, Saturday and Sunday.
