ADAC Formel 4·12.4.2019

Lucas Alecco Roy back with Van Amersfoort in 2019: Roy is the final piece in the ADAC Formula 4 driver squad for the illustrious Dutch racing team

The VAR driver quartet for the 2019 ADAC Formula 4 season is now complete: Lucas Alecco Roy (22, Monaco) lines up alongside Niklas Krütten (16, Germany), Ido Cohen (17, Israel) and Dennis Hauger (16, Norway) at Van Amersfoort Racing, ready for the start of the fifth season of the German junior racing series towards the end of April. For Roy, it is the second year with VAR after six points-scoring finishes for the Zeewolde (Netherlands) based outfit in 2018.

The 22-year-old had relatively little exposure to motorsport until his debut in 2017: "My learning curve has been incredible: with every race, I've gained valuable experience." Roy is optimistic about the new season in which he will be contesting both the German and the Italian junior series in parallel.

After making nine podium appearances in the UAE F4 Championship during the winter, three of them as race winner, has set himself clear targets for the new season: "After the races in the United Arab Emirates, I feel very well prepared for the upcoming championships. I cannot wait for the red lights to go out in Oschersleben for the first time a couple of weeks from now."

Van Amersfoort team principal Rob Niessink is also looking forward to continuing the collaboration: "The more a team works with a driver, the better the communication gets. In Lucas's situation, where he entered motor racing without any previous experience, the communication between team and driver is invaluable. This has a positive effect on us all. We are ready to help Lucas reach the next level."
