Good news comes better late than never for 15-year-old US Racing CHRS driver Théo Pourchaire, who secured his maiden win in the ADAC Formula 4 at the Red Bull Ring in the second race after Red Bull Junior Dennis Hauger was handed a penalty. French teenager Pourchaire took the win from the Finn, William Alatalo, and team-mate Arthur Leclerc, brother of Formula 1 shooting star Charles Leclerc. Pole-sitter Hauger, who was the first to cross the finish line, was given a 30-second time penalty for disregarding the yellow flags.

As a result, all drivers were moved up one place. Gianluca Petecof (Prema Powerteam) finished fourth ahead of Ido Cohen from Van Amersfoort Racing. Prema driver Paul Aron (Estonia) was best Rookie in sixth place in front of Giorgio Carrara (Jenzer Motorsport) and Niklas Krütten (Van Amersfoort Racing) and rookie Joshua Dürksen. Thanks to Hauger’s penalty, Oliver Rasmussen also collected a point for tenth place. Saturday’s race winner Hauger finished 14th overall due to his time penalty.

On pole again, Norwegian driver Hauger made an excellent start initially and pulled out a clear lead as a result which he defended perfectly on the restart following a safety car deployment. Meanwhile, Prema driver Alessandro Famularo and Pourchaire were busy scrapping for second place until Famularo made a mistake and dropped out of the rankings.

The third race of the ADAC High-Speed Academy starts at 3.35 pm. The grid for Race 3 is determined by the results from the second race with the top eight starting in reverse order. Consequently, Krütten will be on pole, followed by Carrara from Argentina, rookie Aron and the Israeli Cohen. SPORT1 will broadcast the ADAC Formula 4 race live on TV.
