Rookie Paul Aron (15, Estonia, Prema Powerteam) celebrated his second victory of the season in the ADAC Formula 4 at Zandvoort. The young Estonian driver finished the tenth race of the season ahead of team-mate, Oliver Rasmussen (18, Denmark, Prema Powerteam) and overall championship leader, Théo Pourchaire (15, France, US Racing CHRS). This was Rasmussen's first podium finish of the year in the ADAC Formula 4. Aron, though, had appeared on the top rung of the podium at the Red Bull Ring earlier this June, following the example of his brother Ralf, who secured two wins in Formula 3 at Zandvoort on the Dutch North Sea coast in 2018.

"I'm mega happy about my second victory of the season in the German series. I knew overtaking would not be easy here, so I made sure to get away really well," said Aron. "I then quickly overtook Gianluca and asserted my lead."

Pourchaire, who had also finished third in Race 1 over the demanding dune circuit on Saturday, secured more vital points in the battle for the title with this podium finish and crowned himself 'half-time' champion in the ADAC High-Speed Academy ahead of the eleventh race this Sunday afternoon at 5.00 pm. "It's always good to be on top. For sure, I'm excited about it, but it's just a moment in time. The most important thing is winning the championship," said Pourchaire, "I'll keep pushing but not take too many risks. It's really important to be consistent in this championship." The Frenchman also benefited from the retirement of his main rival, Arthur Leclerc (18, Monaco, US Racing CHRS), the younger brother of Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc. Dennis Hauger (16, Norway, Van Amersfoort Racing), who is third overall in the championship, finished 17th after a spin.

With his second win of the season, Aron reduced the gap in the Rookie classification on the leader Roman Stanek (15, Czech Republic, US Racing CHRS), who took the chequered flag in P14.

Sebastian Estner (17, Germany, Van Amersfoort Racing) will start the eleventh race of the season from pole followed by Nico Göhler (16, Germany, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV), Grégoire Saucy (19, Switzerland, R-ace GP), Michael Belov (17, Russia, R-ace GP), Alessandro Ghiretti (17, France, US Racing CHRS), Pourchaire, Rasmussen and Aron.

Aron got off to a terrific start in dry conditions, overtook pole-sitter, Gianluca Petecof (16, Brazil, Prema Powerteam) and then continued to dominate the 19-man field throughout the race. While Leclerc spun off into the gravel trap on the first lap and then had to park up his damaged car, which led to the safety car coming out, Pourchaire remained a threat in P5.

A little later, Stanek was given a drive-through penalty by the stewards for jumping the start and had to slot into position at the rear of the field. Things appeared to be just taking their course after the first part of the race when Hauger then began to put pressure on Petecof in P2. On Lap 7, the Norwegian made a move against the Brazilian, who maintained an aggressive line, causing Hauger to spin. He was subsequently overtaken by the whole field. Six minutes before the end, the stewards decided that Petecof had used unfair means to defend his second place, so the Prema Powerteam driver had to drive once through the pits. Aron, Rasmussen and Pourchaire out in front benefited as a result and finished on the podium.

The eleventh race of the season starts at 5.00 pm. The next ADAC Formula 4 highlight will be staged at the Nürburgring in one week's time.
