The ADAC Formula 4 drivers had three exciting races at the weekend - and the Top Three left with very different feelings. While Dennis Hauger is now full of confidence after his historic hat-trick at Hockenheim, Théo Pourchaire, who has been extremely consistent so far, had a far from positive weekend, as he missed the points twice. Championship-winning team, US Racing CHRS, welcomed many old acquaintances, and without any fuss, the first title of the season has already been quietly decided.
Hat-trick: Norwegian teenager Dennis Hauger was ecstatic and shouted for joy on his lap of honour, having made a clean sweep of all of the weekend's three races at Hockenheim, making ADAC Formula 4 history in the process. "It's amazing, I'm so happy, that was a perfect weekend," said Hauger. The two former champions, Marvin Dienst (2015) and Joey Mawson (2016), had both previously taken two wins and a second place each but no driver had ever achieved the triple. "It's pretty awesome to have done it," said Hauger: "That gives me an extra boost of motivation for the finale."
Unlucky streak: 16-year-old French teenager Théo Pourchaire had imagined that his Hockenheim weekend would turn out very differently. He had even allowed himself to dream of a premature title win in view of his big advantage in the standings, but now, he's heading to the Sachsenring with just a one-point lead on Hauger & Co in pursuit. "I'll have to start from scratch again. We all still have a good chance of securing the title and ensuring a happy ending," said Pourchaire.
Full house: US Racing CHRS had a very special get-together with nine former and current drivers, who met to chat and pose, smiling for the camera. Apart from Théo Pourchaire, Alessandro Ghiretti, Arthur Lelerc and Roman Stanek, who are in this season's line-up in the ADAC Formula 4 for the Kerpen-based team, 2018 champion Lirim Zendeli, ADAC GT Masters driver Mick Wishofer, 2015 champion Marvin Dienst , Jannes Fittje and Carrie Schreiner were also present.
First title win: In the celebrations surrounding Dennis Hauger's triple victory, it was almost forgotten that 15-year-old Czech teenager Roman Stanek has won the title of Best Rookie of the Year. He is heading to the finals at the Sachsenring with a lead of 86 points but his main rival, Paul Aron, can achieve 75 points at most in the best-case scenario. "I'm very pleased, as it was my main aim before the season to secure the Rookie title," he told us. "I now want to see just how far I can go in the overall championship." In other words, he wants to move even further forwards, because the rookie is in fourth place in the championship with every chance of improving.
