ADAC Formel 4·1.8.2020

Best time for Edgar in rehearsal for qualifying: Small gaps hold promise of an exciting qualifying session

British driver Jonny Edgar set best time in the second ADAC Formula 4 practice session at the Lausitzring and won through in the final dress rehearsal before qualifying. The 16-year-old driver from Van Amersfoort Racing needed 1:22.995 minutes for his hot lap and was therefore marginally faster than Joshua Dürksen, who missed best time by 0.056 seconds. Showing strong form once more, Oliver Bearman from championship-winning team, US Racing was again just a few thousandths down. Jak Crawford had been quickest in first practice on Friday afternoon but only posted five laps and was unable to set a competitive time.

The gaps were even closer compared to yesterday, so qualifying should be really exciting. R-ace GP's Victor Bernier took fourth place, confirming his good form from Day 1. Elias Seppänen (US Racing) from Finland finished fifth ahead of Artem Lobanenko from R-ace GP. German driver and ADAC Sports Foundation protégé, Tim Tramnitz, was seventh, just less than four tenths adrift of Edgar's best time.

Q1 at 11.10 am will determine the starting grid for this afternoon's first race at 2.45 pm. The second session immediately afterwards will then decide places on the grid for the second race on Sunday (11.15 am). In the third race, which kicks off on Sunday at 3.30 pm, the top eight drivers from Race 2 will start in reverse order.

Every weekend, SPORT1 will broadcast at least one race live on free-to-air television. Racing can also be watched on SPORT1+. All races are also available online as live stream with German and English commentary at SPORT1.de, youtube.com/adac and adac.de/motorsport.
