Crawford sets pace in FP1: Van Amersfoort driver repeats good form from Lausitzring

New weekend, same scenario as the American, Jak Crawford, set best time in the first ADAC Formula 4 practice at the Nürburgring. The 15-year-old from Van Amersfoort Racing lapped the circuit in the Eifel in a time of 1:27.786 minutes and was 0.164 seconds faster than the Italian, Gabriele Mini, who is making his debut in the ADAC High-Speed Academy this season along with his outfit, Prema Powerteam. Crawford confirmed his good form from the Lausitzring season opener by posting best time. He started out from pole position twice in the races two weeks ago but is still waiting to take his maiden win.

The Swede Dino Begdanovic (Prema Powerteam) finished behind Crawford and Mini to secure third place. Championship leader Jonny Edgar from England was fourth, 0.235 seconds down on his team mate, Crawford. Edgar won two of the races at the Lausitzring and as a result, is now the hot favourite to win the championship. Joshua Dürksen from ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV took P5 from the two US Racing drivers, Vlad Lomko and Elias Seppänen, the winner of Race 3 at the season opener.

Sebastian Montoya (Prema Powerteam) came eighth. The son of ex-Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya is also making his debut in ADAC Formula 4, as is Francesco Pizzi, who followed him home in P9 in a third racing car fielded by Van Amersfoort Racing. Oliver Bearman from US Racing completed the Top Ten. Second practice is next up on the agenda at 1 pm. Qualifying is this afternoon at 5 pm, and the trainee drivers will fight for vital championship points in three races on Saturday and Sunday. SPORT1 will broadcast all three rounds live from the Nürburgring. Racing can also be watched online as live stream with German or English commentary at SPORT1.de, youtube.com/adac and adac.de/motorsport.
