The second free practice session of the Hockenheim ADAC Formula 4 weekend was again decided by mere thousandths. And as before, it was Joshua Dürksen (16, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) setting the fastest time. The 16-year-old from Berlin, who had chalked up his first victory just before the summer break at the Nürburgring, clocked a lap time of 1:41.124 minutes. However, it was only 0.016 seconds faster than French teenager Victor Bernier. There was then a relatively wider gap to third-placed Sebastian Montoya who was 0.314 seconds behind the best time. The field then starts to look very tight again: separating the son of the former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya and current championship leader Jonny Edgar in eleventh place were a mere 0.248 seconds. Qualifying (start time 17:20 CEST) therefore promises to be extremely exciting.
Finishing the session fourth and fifth respectively behind Montoya were Tim Tramnitz (US Racing) from Hamburg and Jak Crawford (USA, Van Amersfoort Racing). They were closely followed by the other US Racing drivers Vladislav Lomko, Oliver Bearman and Elias Seppänen. Rounding off the Top Ten were the Prema Powerteam duo of Gabriele Mini and Dino Beganovic. Next came Francesco Pizzi and Jonny Edgar. As in in the first practice session, series debutant Hamda Al Qubaisi, the only female in the field, went 14th fastest, just behind her Iron Lynx team-mate Leonardo Fornaroli.
After qualifying on Friday afternoon, the weekend has the customary three races in store for the talented youngsters of the ADAC High-Speed Academy.
