Jonny Edgar and Jak Crawford continue to put their stamp on the ADAC Formula 4. The two Van Amersfoort Racing drivers dictated the action in FP2 at the Nürburgring and topped the timesheets. British driver, Edgar, who leads overall following the opening weekend, posted a 1:27.586 on his hot lap of the famous circuit in the Eifel, giving him best time. He was 0.190 seconds faster than the American, Crawford. Edgar and Crawford both showed excellent form previously at the start of the season, producing best times at the Lausitzring, but as regards wins, only Edgar has been successful so far.
Racing behind the two Red Bull Juniors was extremely close as newcomer, Gabriele Mini from Prema Powerteam, finished third ahead of Francesco Pizzi, emphasising Van Amersfoort Racing's strong performance. German driver, Tim Tramnitz, from championship-winning team, US Racing, was fifth. A gap of exactly one tenth of a second separated Crawford and ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Tramnitz. Qualifying at 5 pm should prove to be very exciting!
Conditions in the Eifel were warm but overcast as Joshua Dürksen from ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg took P6 from Prema driver, Dino Beganovic, from Sweden. The two drivers were separated by a mere thousandth of a second. Lausitzring race winner Elias Seppänen (US Racing) finished eighth. His team mates, Vlad Lomko and Oliver Bearman, completed the Top Ten. The Colombian, Sebastian Montoya, son of ex-Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya, had to be content with twelfth place, finishing behind Victor Bernier (R-ace GP), who was eleventh. Montoya was almost seven-tenths of a second down on best time.
