Preparations for the 2020 ADAC Formula 4 season continue to gather pace. The Italian outfit, Prema Powerteam, has announced that the young Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto has been recruited as its second driver for season six of the German junior series. Like his Swedish team-mate, Dino Beganovic, the rookie will be contesting the Italian Formula 4 series in its entirety as well as competing in selected ADAC Formula 4 races.
The opening fixture of the ADAC High-Speed Academy will be hosted by Oschersleben on the weekend of 24th - 26th April. The season comprises seven events and 21 races. All races are broadcast on SPORT1 and online as a live stream on various digital platforms.
15-year-old Bortoleto arrives on the formula racing scene after several years in karting. After making his debut in 2012 in his native Brazil, he moved to Europe in 2016, where he competed all the major series and quickly established himself among the international elite in all the classes he entered.
Team boss Angelo Rosin is excited by what he has seen so far: "We are very impressed by his ambition and total commitment. Gabriel is a proven talent. He is a strong driver, fast and consistent in terms of performance. We expect him to have an immediate impact."
Bortoleto is determined to take advantage of the opening that has been offered to him: "This is the opportunity I've always hoped for. And it's even better than that, because I am joining Prema, a top team, to compete in Formula 4, which is a really high-quality championship. This is going to be my first year in a single-seater, and I'm convince that I will learn a lot at Prema. I can't wait for the season to start."
