Victor Bernier set the first fastest time of the race weekend at the Sachsenring. The Frenchman, who currently lies seventh in the ADAC Formula 4 table, was the fastest man in free practice 1, setting a time of 1:19.351 minutes in good conditions on Friday morning. ADAC Stiftung Sport driver Tim Tramnitz (17, Hamburg, US Racing) was second fastest, just 0.017 seconds slower than Bernier.
Third place went to championship leader Oliver Bearman (16, Great Britain, Van Amersfoort Racing). The Brit currently holds a 49-point lead over second-placed Tramnitz, whose team-mate Luke Browning (19, Great Britain) lies third, 62 points behind Bearman. In temperatures of around 6 degrees Celsius, on a dry track and in bright sunshine, the best of the rookies was Marcus Amand (15, France, R-ace GP) in sixth place.
The second free practice for the ADAC’s high-speed school commences at 11:50. Then, early on Friday evening, the really serious business begins: qualifying begins at 17:05. Races ten to twelve of the season then take place on Saturday (11:45) and Sunday (09:25 and 14:10).
