Second practice, second top time: Van Amersfoort driver Oliver Bearman again set the fastest time in the second ADAC Formula 4 practice session, making him the favourite going into this evening’s two qualifying sessions (from 18:25).
As in the first session, the 16-year-old was again the fastest man on the track, setting a fastest time of 1:31.214 minutes. He is now the firm favourite going into this evening’s two 15-minute qualifying sessions, in which the grid positions for the weekend’s first two races will be determined. The field was evenly matched again in FP2. Bearman’s compatriot Luke Browning (19, US Racing) was just 0.172 seconds slower.
Third place, just 0.179 seconds back, went to Sebastian Montoya (16, Columbia, Prema Powerteam), closely followed by guest starter Leonardo Fornaroli (16, Iron Lynx). In fifth place was ADAC Stiftung Sport driver Tim Tramnitz (16, US Racing) from Hamburg, who made up three positions on his first practice session. Places six, seven and eight went to the Van Amersfoort Racing trio: Joshua Dufek, Nikita Bedrin and Bence Valint were closely bunched. Sami Meguetounif (17, France, R-ace GP) was ninth, with Kirill Smal (16, Russia, Prema Powerteam) rounding off the top ten.
After the evening’s two qualifying sessions, the talented youngsters in the ADAC’s high-speed school will contest three races, as usual. Race one starts at 11:15 on Saturday, followed by race two at 17:30. The third and final race gets underway at 11:05 on Sunday.
