Hockenheim: Alex Dunne leads the way again in second practice

Alex Dunne was flying in the second ADAC Formula 4 practice session at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. The US Racing driver again clocked the fastest time, ahead of team-mate Tim Tramnitz.

Alex Dunne has arrived in ADAC Formula 4. The flying Irishman is making his debut in the ADAC high-speed school at the Hockenheimring. Having already set the best time in FP1, Dunne was again the fastest man on the track in the second session of the day. A lap time of 1:40.998 minutes was good enough to put the US Racing driver at the top of the timing sheet. Dunne improved the time he set in the morning practice session by 0.092 seconds.

Second place in FP2 went to Tim Tramnitz. The ADAC Stiftung Sport driver was just 0.051 seconds slower than his US Racing team-mate. “I only got in one flying lap on fresh tyres before the red flag. Were it not for that, maybe I could have done even better. Despite that, I can obviously still be happy with second place,” said Tramnitz. “The result means that we still have some work to do before qualifying. On the whole, I am very confident. The car feels really good.”

Behind the two US Racing drivers were three cars from Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing. Championship leader Oliver Bearman was third fastest, 0.584 seconds behind Dunne. Fourth place went to Nikita Bedrin with a deficit of 0.589 seconds. Joshua Dufek competed the top five.

In ADAC Formula 4, attention now shifts to qualifying, which begins at 15:40 on Friday. “I am very well prepared going into qualifying,” said an optimistic Tramnitz. “Our goal here in Hockenheim is definitely to win, or to be in contention for the win. We will give it our all to achieve that. Let’s see where we actually end up.”
