ADAC GT Masters: local matador in the spotlight

Saxony's long motorsport tradition is reflected in the ADAC GT Masters by the considerable number of participants from the state.

Among others, brothers Charlie and Philip Geipel from Plauen fight for points in the "super sportscar league" - not side by side like Oschersleben winners Johannes and Ferdinand Stuck, but as opponents. Charlie Geipel starts the two one-hour races together with veteran Frank Schmickler in a Mühlner Porsche, while his older brother Philip is team mate of defending champion Albert von Thurn und Taxis in a Reiter Lamborghini.

Delayed season start

Following an injury induced break from the opener at Oschersleben Geipel/von Thurn und Taxis now celebrate their delayed season start. Team newcomers NK Racing from Altenburg also relies on Lamborghini. Michael Golz and Carsten Seifert from Dresden share the cockpit.

Ex-DTM driver Alexandros Margaritis (GR) and Dino Lunardi (F) arrive as championship leaders, the BMW-Aplina drivers are seven points ahead of ABT-Audi pair Christer Jöns/Jens Klingmann (D/D). The overall standings are a reflection of the huge variety of brands forming record grids in the ADAC GT Masters. Five different manufacturers fill the first five places.
