Audi teams set the pace at the Sachsenring

Four Rings, two wins: the Sachsenring was Audi land in 2011. In Saturday's ADAC GTMasters race pole sitters and ABT duo Luca Ludwig/Christopher Mies (Bonn/Heiligenhaus) won from their team mates Christer Jöns/Jens Klingmann (Ingelheim/Leimen).

The Porsche pair of Sebastian Asch/Michael Ammermüller (Ammerbuch/Pocking) completed the podium in a race that started turbulently: Mercedes driver Robert Renauer (Jedenhof) was an innocent victim in an accident at the start which saw him roll the car. He was uninjured while his gull wing sportscar was so badly damaged that racing on Sunday was not possible.

The second race was declared a "wet race" when rain fell just before the start. Despite this several team choose slick tyres. Oschersleben winner Alex Margaritis (GR) selected rain tyres for his BMW-Alpina. As a result he forced his way from seventh to first and pulled away. However, after team mate Dino Lunardi (F) had taken over the car the green racer rolled to a halt with a technical defect.

Audi phalanx

An Audi phalanx formed again at the head of the field on the drying track. AndreasSimonsen/Christopher Haase (S/Kirchleus) won ahead of their Phoenix Racing PolePromotion team mates René Rast/Stefan Landmann (Steyerberg/A).

Third and fourth places went to the Abts Ludwig/Mies and Jöns/Klingmann. Best non-Audi drivers were the Stuck brothers Johannes and Ferdinand (A) who were fifth in a Reiter-Lamborghini ahead of their team mates Philip Geipel/Albert von Thurn und Taxis (Plauen/Regensburg). The Corvette duo Sven Hannawald/Heinz-Harald Frentzen who were surrounded by autograph hunters throughout the entire weekend finished 13th and 17th. Independent of the finishing positions Sachsenring debutant Frentzen: "The races were a lot of fun."
