Austrian brothers Ferdinand and Johannes Stuck went on a rollercoaster ride of emotions in front of an Austrian audience on the fifth racing weekend of the ADAC GT Masters. The Lamborghini duo had to pull out of the first of two races in the "super sports car league" early following a collision in the early stages of the race. But in the second race, the two Austrians gave their fellow countrymen who filled the grandstands of the Red Bull Ring something to cheer about when they secured a comfortable victory with a lead of a good eight seconds after 38 laps. With 25 points for the win, the two brothers have now taken over at the top of the leader board.
The BMW-ALPINA duo Alexandros Margaritis (GR) and Dino Lunardi (F) are behind them in second place overall. They came sixth on the first day of racing and then secured second place on the second day, finishing ahead of the two Austrian drivers Dominik Baumann and Hari Proczyk (Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG). The surprise winners of the first race, which was plagued by rain, were Norbert Siedler of Austria and Christian Engelhart of Germany racing for MRS Team PZ Aschaffenburg in a Porsche 911, ahead of Andreas Zuber/Lance David Arnold in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The most impressive sporting performance came from Christopher Haase and Andreas Simonsen in their Audi R8 for Phoenix Racing Pole Promotion, who crossed the finishing line third, having started in 24th place.
