Asch/Götz - best Mercedes team: Speedy Men in Black

Four races - two podiums and points in each round: after two ADAC Masters weekends, Men in Black Sebastian Asch and Maximilian Götz in kfzteile24 MS RACING Team's jet-black Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 are the best-placed Mercedes pair. "We are very pleased with the start to the season since we've extracted the maximum possible so far," says Sebastian Asch, who switched to the Gullwing Mercedes after three years at the wheel of a Porsche. "Our goal was to score points in every race, which is what we've achieved. We were not in a position to do much against the BMWs and the Corvette last time out in Zandvoort, but we were lucky and finished on the podium. If we can maybe tweak the car's settings for the Sachsenring race, then we will hopefully go on the offensive and take the lead."

After two years in a rear-engined Porsche, the move to the front-engined Mercedes has not presented any real problems for the son of legendary touring car ace, Roland Asch: "We are the best-placed Mercedes team in the championship, which proves beyond doubt that making the switch has not caused any real problems. The Mercedes rides differently, of course, but you're back in the zone after just a few laps. I still think Porsche on the long runs, but it only takes a couple of laps to regain the feel for the car."

Sebastian will be tackling his 50th ADAC GT Masters race overall at the Sachsenring. With so much experience in the Asch accelerator foot, this 25-year-old knows exactly what counts in the League of Super Sports Cars and securing points is high up on his agenda: "You cannot always be out in front when contesting such a strong championship, so securing decent points in every race is vital."

Consequently, Asch and Götz are looking for another goodly points tally and a podium at the Sachsenring and are keen to draw ever closer to the top of the standings. "I've always really liked the Sachsenring. It's where I achieved my first pole position in the 2008 ADAC GT Masters. Maxi is also very quick at the Sachsenring, as he proved last year. Our aim is to be in the points once again and not take too many risks. A lot can happen in the ADAC GT Masters. Just getting away safely on the first lap can prove very tricky."

Asch is looking forward to racing around this 3.645km roller-coaster of a track, and not just in view of previous positive experiences in Saxony: "The Sachsenring is always extremely busy and the atmosphere simply fantastic. This Sachsenring is unlike any other circuit and has a unique charm."
