Developed by Reiter Engineering, the Chevrolet Camaro GT made its GT3 debut this weekend. At a race at the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit in Le Castellet, France, the team from Oberbayern tried the new car in race conditions for the first time.
For one weekend, Albert von Thurn und Taxis and Stefan Rosina swapped the wheel of their Lamborghini Gallardo to compete against the US powerhouse with the support of Peter Kox. The Camaro only aimed to participate in qualifying, but struck with the fastest time in the final session.
Hans Reiter, who developed the new Camaro GT, was pleased with the trip to the French Mediterranean coast. "We have all done a good job. The Camaro is not yet fully ready, but we have enough time to fine tune the car before the start of the season."
Next for the Chevrolet Camaro GT is this week's "Balance of Performance" test to be carried out by the FIA, which must be done before the US Muscle car can race in the ADAC GT Masters season opener at the Oscherleben Motorsport Arena from 30 March-1 April.
