Zandvoort greeted the ADAC GT Masters on its first visit to the North Sea coast early on Friday morning with very cloudy skies and a wet track. The 4.307km long Circuit Zandvoort dried over the duration of the first free practice session, and in the second half of the session the timesheets were changing every minute. In the end it was the #1 BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 of defending champion Dino Lunardi and Maxime Martin who set the fastest time, 0.369 seconds ahead of Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Andreas Wirth in their Callaway Competition Corvette Z06.R GT3.
The two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 cars of the kfzteile24 MS Racing Team put in a strong performance, and were fastest several times throughout the session. In the end, Daniel Dobitsch and Florian Stoll were ahead of their team colleagues Sebastian Asch and Maximillian Götz in third and fourth position.
After a strong start to the season in Oschersleben, the Lambda Performance Ford GT of Nico Verdonck/Jesse Krohn was once again quick in the Netherlands and put in the fifth fastest lap ahead of the Young Driver AMR Aston Martin V12 Vantage driven by the Stuck brothers, Ferdinand and Johannes.
In seventh and eighth position were two other Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 cars of Maximilian Mayer/Jan Seyffarth (SMS Seyffarth Motorsport) and Maximilian Buhk/Andreas Simonsen (HEICO Junior Team).
The only Dutch team in the ADAC GT Masters, DB Motorsport finished in ninth position with Jeroen den Boer and Simon Knap in the BMW Z4 GT3 while local driver Jeroen Bleekmolen and Robert Renauer (FROGREEN CO2 neutral) rounded out the Top 10 in the fastest Porsche 911.
