Highlight of the season, reloaded: After the home race of YACO Racing powered by Jochen Schweizer with its pair of Chevrolet Camaro GT at the Sachsenring some four weeks ago, the ADAC GT Masters start for the next round at the German Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. The Chevrolet Camaro GT will race at the track in the Eifel Mountains in front of more spectators then ever before: More than 200,000 fans are expected from Friday to Sunday at the Nürburgring for one of Germany's biggest motorsport events of the season. The pair of Camaro GT's will be driven at the Trucker-Mega-Event by Max Sandritter / Christian Bracke and Achim Winter / Charlie Geipel.
While YACO Racing powered by Jochen Schweizer can be sure of a big fan base at the Truck Grand Prix, the ADAC GT Masters will use the 3,6 km short sprint track version of the Nürburgring this weekend, which will make the races very exciting ones not only for the team from Saxony. YACO Racing powered by Jochen Schweizer used the recent weeks for some more intensive development on the still very new Camaro GT. The sprint track of the Nürburgring with its "stop-go" characteristics will be challenging for the powerful, but massive Camaro GT: While the Camaro GT benefits in acceleration from its powerful 8-litre-V8-engine and also can rely on its good brakes, it will be crucial how quick the car will go through the very slow first sector.
"We did a lot of testing and development in recent weeks," YACO Racing team boss Uwe Geipel says. "But due to the special characteristics of the short track, you can not use the weekend as a gauge for cars development. As we are running with the trucks this weekend, there will be a lot of diesel dust on track and also fluids, so we will have conditions, which can't be found anywhere else."
Charlie Geipel is optimistic, but also ventured no prediction: "We tested a lot and made some serious steps forwards, but it remains to be seen, if this will help us this weekend. Due to the diesel dust of the track, it's very difficult to judge set up changes and it's very important to follow your concept, when track conditions change. I'm very excited how quick we will be there. The quick last sector will certainly suit our car, but question is how quick we will go through the first sector. It's almost impossible to make a prediction. But this guarantees a very exciting weekend and good fun for the fans."
