Christer Jöns and Christopher Mies dominated free practice at the season opener of the ADAC GT Masters at the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena on both wet tyres as well as the new slicks from YOKOHAMA. The second free practice session started on a drying track, and by the end of the 60 minute session, the 3.696km track at Oschersleben was completely dry, marking the first time that the new profileless slicks from YOKOHAMA were used.

The Porsche stepped up 10 minutes before the end of practice, leaving the Audi duo at the top and sending the R8 LMS ultra (Mamerow Racing) of Chris Mamerow/Bernd Herndlhofer to third place.
The fourth fastest time went to the Oschersleben team Schubert Motorsport with Claudia Hürtgen and Dominik Schwager in the BMW Z4 GT3 ahead of the kfzteile24 MS RACING Team Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 of Sebastian Asch/Maxi Götz and Team Geyer & Weinig/Schütz Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3-R of Christian Engelhart and Carrera Cup Champion Nick Tandy.
Ex-Formula 1 driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen was temporarily at the top of the timesheets with his new team mate Andreas Firth in a Callaway-Corvette, finishing in eighth position just behind the sister car of Toni Seiler/Frank Kechele. Christian Abt/Carsten Tilke (Prosperia-Audi R8 LMS ultra) and Swen Dolenc/Martin Ragginger (FACH AUTO TECH-Porsche 911 GT3-R) rounded out the top 10.
