The Stuck brothers Ferdinand and Johannes like to refer to the Nürburgring as their front room. Rightly so, on Friday morning, the sons of racing legend Hans-Joachim 'Striezel' Stuck finally announced their return with a best time in first practice after much bad luck. Sunshine and practically cloudless skies greeted the Stuck brothers as they got the penultimate weekend of the ADAC GT Masters off to a great start in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 prepared by Young Driver AMR with a best time of 1:56.873mins. The Stuck brothers' best time marked the first fastest time for the Aston Martin V12 Vantage in an ADAC GT Masters practice session.
Two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3s came home behind the British muscle coupé; Maximilian Buhk and Andreas Simonsen (HEICO Junior Team) took second place, just 0.057 seconds down on the Stucks, from Jan Stovicek/Erik Janis (HEICO GRAVITY CHAROUZ TEAM). The two BMW Z4 GT3s posted the fourth and fifth fastest laps on Friday morning. Dutch duo and winners from Zandvoort, Jeroen den Boer/Simon Knap (DB Motorsport), finished ahead of Claudia Hürtgen and Dominik Schwager (Schubert Motorsport).
Diego Alessi/Daniel Keilwitz (Callaway Competition), currently placed fourth in the championship, crossed the finish line in sixth position in their Corvette ahead of Sebastian Asch and Maximilian Götz, who are second in the standings in their Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (kfzteile24 MS RACING Team).
Christiaan Frankenhout/Kenneth Heyer (HEICO Motorsport) completed the Top Ten in the Gullwing Mercedes, taking the chequered flag ahead of the Corvette of Toni Seiler/Frank Kechele (Callaway Competition) and the second Aston Martin V12 Vantage prepared by Young Driver AMR driven by Kristian Poulsen and Christoffer Nygaard.
Championship leader Christian Engelhart got the weekend off to a rather muted start, bringing home the Porsche 911 GT3 R in P26, aided by co-driver Nick Tandy (Team Geyer & Weinig EDV / Schütz Motorsport).
